If you’re an X-Men fan, then these recent Marvel Rivals leaks and hints are right up your alley. As the first season starts progressing into its second half, fans are eagerly speculating about what’s next. A recent in-game message from Doctor Doom has gotten players speculating on what it may mean.
The current speculation seems to be that the second season of NetEase Games’ hit game will be focused on the iconic Hellfire Gala storyline from the comics. With leaks suggesting the arrival of characters like Emma Frost and Blade, we can expect to see fancy skins, mutant politics, and much more when Season 2 rolls around.
Marvel Rivals could go full mutant in Season 2
We recently got the biggest hint yet for the Season 2 theme for Marvel Rivals in the latest Gallery Card titled Plans Within Plans. This piece of in-game lore ends with Doctor Doom stating, “Now, if you’ll excuse me, Doom has a gala to attend.” It may just seem like a normal statement at first, but there’s already speculation about whether it has any connection to the Hellfire Gala, a major event in Marvel’s X-Men comics.

For those unfamiliar with the Hellfire Gala, it’s one of the most stylish and political events in X-Men history. First introduced in 2021, it showed us a mix of mutant power, diplomacy, and, of course, comic book fashion. The event featured the election of a new X-Men team, the public unveiling of mutant nation Krakoa, and appearances from major Marvel icons like Magneto, Doctor Doom, and the Fantastic Four.
The potential Hellfire Gala really gives us hope that X-Men characters will finally get the attention they deserve in Marvel Rivals. So far, the majority of the game’s roster has focused on characters outside the X-Men universe, but this season could change that. Recent leaks suggest that Emma Frost, a major player in the Hellfire Gala storyline, could be one of the next playable heroes.

While Emma Frost appears to be the frontrunner for Season 2, she may not be the only X-Men character joining Marvel Rivals. The Hellfire Gala often includes a major roster shake-up in the comics, meaning the game could take inspiration and introduce additional mutants. Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Rogue are all part of the X-Men team revealed during the Gala in Marvel Comics.

But wait, what does this mean for Blade? Wasn’t he also set to be one of the next characters coming out? Don’t worry, we are asking the same question. The vampire hunter was expected to arrive soon after his involvement in the Eternal Night Falls storyline, but what does this potential focus on the Hellfire Gala mean?
Well, there are a lot of possibilities. Blade and Emma Frost could be released separately, one at the start of Season 2 and the other in a mid-season update. It’d be similar to how the cast of the Fantastic Four has come out. There are a lot of leaked characters on the horizon, and we can rest assured that NetEase will get to them all.
Of course, all of this is based on leaks and speculation. NetEase Games has yet to officially confirm the full scope of Season 2. But with Season 1 slowly winding down, we can expect the developers to make an official announcement soon. With an expected launch in April, Marvel Rivals is only getting better.
