Major airline announces huge change from two Scots airports – and says it’s their ‘best yet’

A MAJOR airline has announced huge changes at two Scots airports – and its good news for holidaymakers.

It’s a move that the CEO has called ‘our best yet’ and thousands of passengers are set to benefit.

Jet2 has announced a major shake-up at Glasgow, and Edinburgh airports – which will come into force in November 2025.

The airline is set to run its most extensive programme of the year – across runways in 12 of the UK‘s biggest cities.

Competing with holiday giants EasyJet, TUI, Ryanair, and others – the firm will offer a remarkable 305,000 seats over the winter period.

The change marks a 27% increase in capacity compared to last year.

Jet2.com, and Jet2CityBreaks are strengthening their Christmas market offers, with additional flights on offer to NINE popular festive destinations.

Customers will be able to jet off to destinations including Berlin, Budapest, Cologne, Copenhagen, Gdansk, Prague, Tallinn, and Vienna just in time for some of the biggest Christmas markets Europe has to offer.

From Glasgow, additional services on Mondays and Fridays are being made available to Budapest, Hungary from November 21 to December 22.

In Edinburgh, the festive season has been extended with flights to Vienna, Austria running from November 13.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “This announcement represents a significant expansion to our winter 2025-26 Christmas markets programme.

“The expansion comes in direct response to the strong demand we are seeing from customers and independent travel agents.”


Across the UK, an additional 10,000 seats will be made available for the extended season, across all 12 of the participating airports.

They include Glasgow, Belfast International, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool John Lennon, Manchester, Newcastle, and Stansted.

Chris Tibbett, Aero Director at AGS Airports, which owns and operates Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports, said: “We are delighted to see Jet2.com and JetCityBreaks are expanding their Christmas Markets programme with more flights from Glasgow Airport.

“Strong customer demand has seen the airline increase the number of seats available to Budapest.

“Passengers have a great opportunity to experience Christmas markets from Glasgow Airport and they are proving to be a popular choice this year.”
