Healy and O’Mahony will also retire from club rugby at the end of the season, while the latter’s Munster teammate Murray will continue his career abroad.

When he won his first cap, he was but a 22-year-old prop charting his path towards becoming an icon of Irish rugby.

And after becoming Ireland’s all-time record appearance maker, he was a 37-year-old husband and father of two doting kids.

Here, SunSport takes a look at the man behind the jersey.

How old is Cian Healy?

Cian Healy was born on October 7, 1987, making him 37 years of age.

Originally from Dublin, he started his rugby career with Belvedere College before making his senior Leinster debut at the age of 19.

In the 17 years that have followed, he has won four Champions Cups, seven United Rugby Championships, and one European Challenge Cup.

In September, meanwhile, Healy surpassed Devin Toner as Leinster’s all-time appearance maker with 281 caps.

His form for Leinster saw him earn his first Ireland cap against the Wallabies in November 2009.

‘Church’ made his Six Nations bow the following year, and has gone on to win the Championship five times, as well as the 2018 and 2023 Grand Slams.

Is he married?

Cian Healy married his now-wife Laura in June 2019 at a star-studded event at Ballynahinch Castle Hotel.

Healy penned an emotional tribute to his better half on their fourth anniversary in June 2023.

He said: “Four of the most enjoyable years married to this incredible woman, friend and partner in crime.

“It started with one, now there are three guys in this house that absolutely worship the ground she walks on.”

Does he have any kids?

Cian and Laura Healy have two kids together.

Their first son, Beau, was born in January 2021, and is already taking after his old man with a rugby ball.

Announcing his birth, he said: “I’ve been in awe of [Laura] for a very long time, even more so now having seen how she has taken to motherhood so well and proven that she is our family‘s rock.

“We welcomed Beau Healy to the world on 15th January and every day since we have been loving and learning. I could sit and stare at him all day long!”

Their second son, Russell, was born in September 2022.

At the time, Healy said: “Russell Healy joined the family. Happy, healthy and full of smiles!

“I’m so proud of [Laura] and how she approached birth and guided him into our world. It’s hard to describe such immeasurable strength and love.

“Huge thanks to the staff @rotundahospital for their care and kindness throughout! They are true rockstars!

“So a baby brother for Beau and another little dude for us to show the way. Life is good”

In addition to the two boys, they have two dogs – a German Shepherd and a pug.
