The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has ordered the National Investigative Bureau to declare former directors of the National Service Authority (NSA) who have absconded wanted.
According to him, some of the beneficiaries of the Ghost Names scandal at the Authority have absconded.
He says he has asked that the assets be traced and frozen until investigations into the scandal are over.
The President, who made this known while delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA), said, “Such brazen theft of public funds cannot go unpunished,” adding that more than 80,000 ghost names could have yielded the suspects huge sums every month”.
He added that “some have absconded; I have directed that they be declared wanted and their assets traced and frozen till the investigation is over.”.
The President further indicated that the government intends to introduce military training for National Service Personnel to instill some form of discipline in the youth of Ghana.
