“Akainu was a way more effective villain than Kaido”: Oda Can’t Get Away With a Valid One Piece Criticism That the World’s Strongest Creature Didn’t Deserve

With every new chapter, the list of One Piece villains has been increasing at a great pace, but there are still some antagonists who have yet to show their true capabilities. One of them is Akainu, the current Fleet Admiral of the Navy in One Piece, who only shared a glimpse of his power during the Marineford Arc and has since then been silently observing everything.

Akainu is indeed one of the strongest characters in One Piece, and he proved it perfectly during the battle of Marineford against the characters trying to save Ace from execution. However, what many One Piece fans won’t believe is that Akainu might be even more powerful than Kaido because of the damage he did during the infamous war.

This directly hurts the image of Kaido as the strongest creature in the One Piece world, and also, fans have criticized him for this, which he ideally didn’t deserve. Thus, the One Piece manga creator needs to sort out the power scaling of the series, as it is only going to become even more difficult in the future.

Akainu did more damage than Kaido

If the power scaling of the One Piece characters is measured according to the narrative, Kaido might come at the same level (or a little higher) as Whitebeard. This is because both of them had the status as Emperors of the sea, and while Kaido was the strongest creature in the world, Whitebeard was the strongest man in the world.

Thus, ideally, Akainu should have been weaker than Kaido, considering the way Whitebeard treated him in Marineford. However, if the level of damage is compared between the two characters, Akainu stands above Kaido in many ways.

His attacks had a more lasting impact on his opponents, and he was even responsible for the death of two One Piece characters: Ace and Whitebeard.

But in Kaido’s case, almost every character who faced his wrath came out alive and with minimum damage, which was not suitable for his reputation. This is why it is safe to assume that Akainu was a way more effective villain than Kaido, and he might just be a better antagonist within the One Piece storyline.

Kaido faced a lot of criticism that he didn’t deserve

Kaido was introduced as a villainous character long ago within the One Piece storyline. Not only that, but even his image as the strongest creature in the world was developed, which had One Piece fans excited for his official introduction within the storyline. But all of this hype died by the time the Wano arc officially ended.

This was because, despite being one of the greatest villains in the series, Kaido couldn’t live up to his reputation. All of his achievements and progressions were the tales of the past, and his performance during the Onigashima battle was criticized by One Piece fans because it didn’t have any lasting impact on the central narrative.

Thus, in many ways, Kaido didn’t deserve the hate that he received, and Eiichiro Oda should have planned ahead with his character development. Hopefully, he will take note of the issue with Kaido and make sure that something like this doesn’t happen to another prominent One Piece character.
