Black Clover‘s Asta is often trolled for his short height. But what most people ignore is how packed he is under those Black Bull robes. But worry not because Yuki Tabata made it a point to prove Asta’s physique in Black Clover.
Unfortunately for him, the thirsty fans have ignored everything other than Asta’s pecs. The protagonist becoming more muscular than ever is just an add-on. But how on Earth did this outfit get sanctioned via the studio? That’s a mystery for another day.
Yuki Tabata turned post-timeskip Asta into a thirst trap in Black Clover
In episode 158 of Black Clover, Asta makes his post-timeskip debut. Just as Spade soldiers drag in prisoners to drain their magic in Candelo, the Demon Slayer Sword crashes through the window, barely missing a soldier. After taking out a few soldiers, Asta’s body becomes visible through a field of smoke.
Lo and behold, it is no longer the old short and skinny Asta. It’s a new short and muscular Asta. (Yes, he is never growing tall in this lifetime, he would need some miracle to achieve that.) But what is even more mesmerizing is his tight form-fitting, chest-hugging outfit.

One look at the dude and fans could immediately tell that Yuki Tabata and Studio Pierrot had teamed up to give the best fanservice possible. In fact, prior to the Candela scene, Gadjah was amazed at Asta’s development. But it was only later during the reveal that fans could really tell the difference.

After Asta’s downright scandalous appearance, fans began debating about how on earth he came upon the outfit. Of course, there’s no canon explanation for it. But when has that stopped fans from speculating the most incredulous circumstances?

Some fans think that the outfit was Noelle’s ploy. Everyone knows that she is head over heels for him, and it would not be too hard to dupe him. Others have stated that Asta was inspired by Yami’s choice of clothing, only to realize that the outfit did not really fit him. In fact, it is so tight that it almost feels like it was painted on his skin.

Another marvelous fan theory is that the nuns in his village gifted him a new shirt/cardigan. But they severely underestimated his size since they had not seen him in a long while. Asta is too nice to say anything and wanted to honor the clothing. Thus, he hopped into it, hoping no one would notice. Nonetheless, it’s time to gather around and thank Yuki Tabata for his service to the anime fandom at large.
