Tehama County Honors Local Heroes at Annual Awards Dinner

CORNING, Calif. — Local heroes were honored at the annual Tehama County Law Enforcement and Fire Personnel of the Year Awards Dinner, which took place Saturday night. Approximately 150 attendees gathered for the ceremony, organized by the Corning Exchange Club, with Action News Now Anchor Linda Watkins-Bennett serving as the emcee.

Each participating agency selected an individual to recognize for their exceptional dedication and service. In a humorous twist, Tehama County District Attorney Investigator Rod Daughtery was unable to attend, prompting his office to present a cardboard cutout in his absence.

The list of honorees included Tehama County Sheriff’s Office Executive Secretary Karie Songer-Simmons, Tehama County Search and Rescue Member Ken Johnson, Tehama County Probation Officer Max Moreno, Cal Fire Tehama/Glenn Unit Heavy Equipment Mechanic III Dave Haugen, Tehama County Volunteer Fire Department Station 12 Engineer Warren Price, Red Bluff Police Corporal Charles Lampron, Red Bluff City Firefighter Sean Story, California Highway Patrol Officers Ross Crown and Jason Paige, CHP Commercial Vehicle Inspection Specialist Matthew Shelburne, Corning Police Officer Danette Ross, and Corning Volunteer Fire Second Assistant Chief Jeff “Nellie” Nelson.

This year’s event was relocated from its usual venue at the historic Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Corning, which is undergoing planned renovations, to the Corning Volunteer Fire Department’s Fire Hall.

The Exchange Club donates all proceeds from the event back into the community.
