Murder cops hunt mystery man caught on CCTV who may have lured Scots businessman to his death in Kenya

COPS in Kenya are hunting a mystery man who they believe may have lured a Scots businessman to his death.

It’s feared Campbell Scott, 58, was abducted and tortured before his body was dumped in a remote forest.

Local media told how detectives are desperate to talk to two men spotted with Campbell in his final hours in Nairobi.

One of them was captured on CCTV alongside the Scot before he vanished.

Officers believe the suspect booked a taxi and then went with Campbell to a notorious slum in the city.

Franklin Wallah of Citizen TV said: “Investigators are pursuing crucial details into arresting key suspects who are considered to be persons of interest in the brutal murder of British national Campbell Scott.

“Among the two is this man. Police say they are pursuing him to record his statement.

“It is suspected the man is the one who requested a taxi and took a ride with the deceased to Nairobi’s Pipeline estate.”

Detectives have already tracked down and arrested the taxi driver but it’s understood he’s been released on bail after giving a statement.

He’s believed to have shown cops where he dropped Campbell off and his vehicle has been seized as part of the probe.

Teams spent hours on Tuesday at the isolated spot where Campbell’s mutilated body was dumped.

Kenyan newspapers said detectives are probing a theory that he was held against his will at a house on the Pipeline estate while thieves stole his cash.

Franklin Wallah added: “Plans are underway for an autopsy as police work on forensic analysis of the deceased’s mobile phone and his bank accounts.

“Police want to find out if there are any financial transactions proper to Scott’s killing.”

Campbell, originally from Dunfermline, Fife, worked with credit scoring Firm Fico.

He was in Nairobi for a three day conference but disappeared after leaving the JW Marriot Hotel in the Westlands area of the city.

Animal herders found his body stuffed into a sack in the Makongo forest on Saturday morning.

We told how the moment the body was discovered and hauled from a bush was captured on camera.

Talking to Kenyan paper The Standard, local administrator Thomas Maitha said: “He appeared to have been tortured.

“The body which was in a bad state, prompted us to escalate the matter further.

“In addition to the physical injuries, the killer had tied his hands from the back, and stuffed the body in the sack which had been packed with ripe pineapples.”

Weeks before the tragedy Campbell told pals he hoped 2025 would be a happy year.

He said: “To all of my wonderful colleagues, partners, associates and friends across the world.

“May I wish you a Happy New year and trust that 2025 will be one to remember  – for all the right reasons.”

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Kenya and are in contact with the local authorities.”
