COPS have launched an urgent probe after a girl was allegedly kidnapped in broad daylight.
The girl was spotted “leaving in an unknown vehicle” in Crewe yesterday afternoon.
Cheshire Police has confirmed two men were arrested following the “cross-border investigation”, according to BPM media.
Alarm was first raised around 2.30pm on Tuesday after the girl disappeared from Edleston Road as multiple neighbourhood units scoured the area.
After multiple units attended to help search, the vehicle fled over the Staffordshire border.
Derbyshire traffic officers were able to locate and stop the car.
Cops have confirmed that the girl is now “safe” with officers as enquiries continue to establish how the events unfolded.
A spokesperson for the Cheshire force said: “Two males have been arrested after a cross-border investigation into a reported kidnapping.
“We responded to a report of a girl leaving in an unknown vehicle from Edleston Road.
“Patrols at the scene quickly identified a suspect vehicle, and multiple units attended to search the area.
“The vehicle had quickly fled over the border into Staffordshire. And later Derbyshire traffic officers managed to locate and stop the vehicle and arrested two males.
“The girl is safe and well with officers, and enquiries are ongoing by detectives to establish the circumstances.
“Many thanks to Derbyshire Constabulary with their assistance – brilliant work.”
