Emmerdale fans ‘rumble’ newcomer’s true identity – and he has links to soap villain

EMMERDALE fans have ‘rumbled’ a newcomer’s true identity – and thinks he has links to a soap villain.

Rich Thompson – played by Joshua John – was introduced on-screen last month as a trainee doctor alongside Jacob Gallagher.

Some fans believe his father is none other than past Emmerdale villain Al Chapman.

One wrote on social media: “Jacob’s friend looks like Al, anyone remember him? He was Chas’ ex fella.”

Another agreed, penning: “His secret son?”

As a third remarked:  “He was a dirty dog if I remember correctly so probably.”

Viewers may recall Al appeared in the ITV soap from 2019 up until 2022.

He embarked on affairs with Debbie and Chas Dingle – and was also co-owner of The Woolpack.

As for Rich, he has found himself embroiled in drama ever since arriving in the village.

Jacob’s mum Leyla found cocaine in his bag, as a tense confrontation with Rich – and other friends – ensued at The Hide.

After Jacob denied owning the drugs, Rich admitted to them being his.

The newcomer then attempted to flirt with Belle Dingle – only to be promptly rejected.

Rich bought Belle a drink – despite her teetotal status – and this was ultimately drunk by her cousin Noah (Jack Downham).

This led Belle to call out Rich for his actions and asked him to leave.

Elsewhere, a tragic turn saw Noah found dazed and wandering in the countryside.

This resulted in a horror limosuine crash into a lake, which claimed three lives – including Leyla.

Noah was later found to have been spiked – with Rich receiving blame for doing so.

Charity confronted Rich about the alleged spiking, but he adamantly denied any involvement.

Re-iterating the point, he even suggested they involve the police as he has nothing to hide.

However, the villagers are unaware that Noah’s own half brother Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was the one actually responsible.

Emmerdale continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
