“You’ll be lucky if he even shows up again”: Moon Knight Fans Realizing How Bad Kevin Feige Fumbled Should Make Oscar Isaac Demand ‘Daredevil’ Treatment

Without a doubt, Kevin Feige has fumbled with a few of the Marvel TV shows, over time—but it’s Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight miniseries that became the epitome of a failed comic book adaptation. Fans have thus expressed their disappointment in how badly the character was misinterpreted and showcased in the series.

Meanwhile, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum recently sparked hope among fans about rectifying the character’s appearance by bringing him back. But sadly, Oscar Isaac has yet to receive his Daredevil-like treatment from the studio. Because, according to Winderbaum, Marvel might be planning to bring back Isaac’s Moon Knight, but not for the show’s second season.

Marvel TV head shared plans of bringing back Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight

After Kevin Feige promised to make Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight gory and comic-accurate, the way fans were disappointed upon watching the miniseries, people have since been eager to see a rectified version of the complex hero. But Marvel often eluded this topic, until recently, when Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel Television told ComicBook, about the character’s possible return in the MCU.

While discussing the launch of Daredevil: Born Again, Brad Winderbaum explained that the MCU undoubtedly has future plans for Moon Knight. However, he clarified immediately that Marvel isn’t planning on bringing back the character in the form of another TV season. Despite touching on his personal desire for a second season of Oscar Isaac’s show, Winderbaum noted that the hero won’t return in a show sequel.

So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted.

We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.

Discussing the evolution of Marvel’s television strategy, Brad Winderbaum explained how Moon Knight was part of a wave of shows that were designed to introduce new characters that would connect to future projects. But then, as Marvel changed its approach, and began creating series that can stand alone and potentially have annual releases, Winderbaum thus noted that Moon Knight won’t appear in the form of a direct sequel.

This means that although there’s no hope for Moon Knight’s second season, fans can look forward to seeing the character in future MCU projects. As of now, although the specifics of how and when the character will return remain under wraps, the confirmation of Oscar Isaac’s return has sparked excitement and speculation among the fans.

Fans are yet to recover from Kevin Feige’s Moon Knight fumble

Back when Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight premiered in 2022, it introduced audiences to Marc Spector, a character with dissociative identity disorder, trying to investigate Egyptian gods and deal with his personal turmoil. And prior to its release, fans were promised a darker show, with mature themes associated with the character in the comics. However, despite high expectations, fans were left disappointed with how the character was portrayed in the show.

Fans expressed their disappointment over how the miniseries seemed holding back on the violence and intensity that define Moon Knight’s stories in the comics. Although Kevin Feige had previously teased the character’s “brutal” nature and hinted at pushing the boundaries (via Empire), the final product left people feeling that the portrayal was toned down, unlike what was anticipated.

So now that Brad Winderbaum teased Moon Knight’s return in MCU, people began advocating for Oscar Isaac to receive a treatment similar to that of Netflix’s Daredevil. Back when Charlie Cox’s show was part of Netflix, it had the freedom of showcasing dark and gritty tones, unlike Disney.

However, even now that Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney, showrunner Dario Scardapane has promised that Cox’s upcoming show will continue the same level of violence that people are habituated with (via Empire). So now, fans want the same for Oscar Isaac’s character.

Moon Knight is currently available to watch on Disney+.
