“What’s more important than literally defending your home?”: Oda Can’t Get Away With a Critical Shamrock Mistake That One Piece Needs to Address

The recent One Piece chapter 1140 has taken the fans by storm by introducing some of the biggest twists the story has ever seen. From Luffy and Zoro taking on Gaban to the mysterious conversation between Gaban and Shanks, every part of the chapter feels like it holds a major secret that is going to become a big deal in the future. And while almost every single moment is significant, the last phase of the One Piece chapter might be the most important one.

This is because it has finally introduced two new members of the infamous God’s Knights that have been kept a secret by Eiichiro Oda for more than 100 chapters. Although the introduction of the God’s Knights certainly ignites intrigue among One Piece fans, it also creates a lot of queries about their actions, especially their new commander Figarland Shamrock.

One of the biggest concerns that fans have been wondering about is that if these God’s Knights are the so-called protectors of the Mary Geoise, where were they when it got attacked in the past? And in hindsight, there are only two explanations for their absence during such important moments in One Piece.

The role of God’s Knights in One Piece

While the God’s Knights have been a part of the One Piece universe for the longest time, they were only officially introduced in Chapter 1083 in the traditional silhouette style by Eiichiro Oda. And while initially they were believed to be like any other normal army of the Nobles, their significance was cleared when their connection with Shanks was developed.

Their initial Supreme Commander was Saint Figarland Garling, but once he got promoted to one of the Five Elders, his son, Figarland Shamrock took the reign. They are ideally the elite guard unit of the Holy Land of Mary Geoise, but they also oversee the World Nobles and keep them in check. This was seen when Garling executed Saint Donquixote Mjosgard, one of the World Nobles.

Oda has tried to keep their identity a secret for a long time, but with the story entering the final phase, it only made sense for him to introduce them. However, out of the nine members that were seen in the silhouette, only four have been revealed as of now in One Piece.

Eiichiro Oda needs to address a major query about the God’s Knights

Although One Piece fans are excited to see what kind of role the God’s Knights will play in the future, they have also been wondering about where they were when Mary Geoise was being attacked by the Revolutionary Army in the past. For those who don’t know, during the Levely, Sabo and a bunch of other Revolutionary Army commanders launched an attack on Mary Geoise.

This attack took place on the fourth day of the event and the main target was the supply chains of the World Nobles which led to them being starved of the basic supplies.

And while the Revolutionary Army succeeded in their attempt, the God’s Knights were not seen defending the ground. This created a lot of doubts about their role in the One Piece story.

These doubts were mostly targeted towards Shamrock, who in fact is the Supreme Commander of the God’s Knights and could have easily dealt with characters like Sabo. Thus, with the introduction of the other members of God’s Knights, Oda needs to clear the doubts and concerns that One Piece fans have had about them since the beginning.
