Radion and television personality Okatakyie Afrifa has asked for an update from National Security on the cash and gold busted.
National Security, through an intelligence-based investigation, intercepted a massive stash of US dollars, gold bars, and counterfeit Ghanaian currency hidden inside a warehouse in the Ga South Municipality.
According to reports, the National Security tracked 12 20ft shipping containers to a secret location in Sapaeiman, where they discovered the haul clearly concealed in wooden crates and camouflaged with cement and charcoal.
They uncovered huge sums of dollars, some fake Ghanaian cedis, and fake military uniforms in the containers, which were cleverly concealed.
Other things found were some metals suspected to be gold bars.
Since February 9, 2025, when the report was made known to the people of Ghana, the National Security hasn’t provided any update on the investigations so far.
The said Alhaji, whom the National Security claims to own the containers, has not been busted, nor have his accomplices.
To Okatakyie Afrifa, if the National Security fails to provide the people of Ghana an update on their investigation, then it was staged just for the optics.
“If the national security says they busted the money and the gold bars, what have become of the investigation? When they were addressing the media, they said one Alhaji, but I want to ask if Alhaji is a name. Which Alhaji? and what is his name? Why was his name left out. This means it wasn’t true. They just wanted to paint a picture that since Akufo-Addo left the government some people have hidden their stolen cash, among others. These are fake dollars, and any money they found there was fake. There is no container that moves from the port without a number. Every container has a bill of laden and that tells you the name of the owner of the container,” he said.
