After the unfathomable success of Star Wars: Andor, the show will soon be returning with the second season and we are SAT. Diego Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor as season two takes us on a journey that spans the four years leading up to Rogue One. The trailer was recently released and it already has about three million views at the time of writing this piece. Needless to say, fans are stoked to see what Tony Gilroy has up his sleeve.

However, if we had to pick the trailer apart and point to one element that just doesn’t sit right with us, it would have to be the music choice. While the song playing in the background perfectly sums up the rebellious theme of the series, was it really necessary? Let’s see how fans have reacted to it so far.
Andor Season 2 music choice disappoints fans

It goes without saying that the Star Wars franchise constitutes many different elements that contribute to making it the perfect masterpiece that it has been for decades now. From fine details that can only be caught by eagle-eyed fans to the way storylines seamlessly intersect with each other, the majority of it is simply *chef’s kiss*.
One such element is the music which has always depicted the emotional depth of Star Wars. Whether it is The Imperial March or A New Hope‘s main title, the franchise is filled with iconic and memorable tunes that will have feeling all the feels!
Unfortunately, it looks like Andor Season 2 has failed to knock it out of the park. The series is hailed as the darkest in the franchise but the upbeat music in the trailer brightens it up, straying from the daunting themes of the show.
Check out the trailer:
The trailer used Steve Earle’s The Revolution Starts Now and while the lyrics may be fitting, the music takes away from the dark aspect of Andor, leaving fans utterly confused and disappointed. Perhaps it would’ve been better if they just went with the show’s already iconic theme.
Take a look at some reactions below:
Nothing captures the tone of the series less than that song choice for the trailer. Utterly baffling.

Looks amazing, but definitely not feeling the music choice for the trailer.

Nothing Says Star Wars like…a rock and roll soundtrack?

Dude why 🤷 the music why dude. Worst Star Wars music you could possibly get it’s so out of the universe

Good grief – what is with this awful music? If I had any inkling to watch this show, it’s gone now! Ugh.

At the end of the day, a trailer is nothing but a preview of what’s to come. We are almost certain that despite the backlash the song choice has received, Season 2 is going to pleasantly surprise us. Music debates aside, let’s strap in!
What is the budget of Andor Season 2?

While we cannot wait to see Diego Luna back in action, we must address the elephant in the room – the gigantic budget. According to a report by Deadline, production on the series has ended up costing the studio more than $645 million.
This is more than the production cost of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ($275M) which was a full-blown film that was released in theatres. Thus, $645 million for a two-season show with limited episodes seems a bit too extravagant, doesn’t it?
Out of the total amount, it is reported that Season 2 alone has cost well over $290.9 million. Here’s what creator Tony Gilroy has said about the high budget of his show and how the critical acclaim helped convince Disney to splurge on Andor.
Credit where credit is due, the budget seems justified if you take a good look at the recently released trailer. Explosions, carefully curated scenes, and the perfect use of CGI, all prove that the creators know what they are doing and what their show is worth. Here’s hoping Season 2 lives up to the hype!
Andor Season 2 will be released on Disney+ on April 22.
