Future of hit Channel 4 series revealed after show star walked out and quit after three years

THE future of a hit Channel 4 series has been revealed – after a star walked out and quit after three years.

Viewers first saw The Great Pottery Throw Down when it launched on BBC Two in 2015 – although the show later moved to Channel 4.

According to Channel 4‘s website, the search is currently underway for the next batch of contestants.

The deadline for applications is Monday, April 14 – with home potters encouraged to “showcase their talent”.

It comes as former judge Rose Schmits walked out on the show last October.

A post from the show’s official social media was the first to announce her exit.

However, Rose quickly swooped in to offer some clarification over her exit.

Writing online, a post from the show read: “A massive thank you to @RoseKilnWitch who is leaving the show after four series as our kiln tech.

“Rose has fired everything from jugs to loos and done her utmost to protect the potters from the kiln gods.

“We wish you and your bow ties the best for the future.”

However, Rose was quick to clarify that she wasn’t axed and admitted she quit after the show became “not worth it”.

The star said: “This was fully my decision by the way, they did want me back but it just wasn’t worth it for me anymore.”

Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney – aka Sister Michael – has served as host since 2021.

While Rose was ultimately replaced by returning show star Princess Fingall.

Princess was a formerly a contestant and had been chosen to join the line-up of experts full time.

Channel 4 said of Princess’ appointment: “We’re thrilled to welcome Princess back to The Great Pottery Throw Down as our new kiln technician.

“Princess joined us as a potter last series and has bags of experience as a studio technician and a very special way with clay.”
