One of the Lawyers for Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi, Ken Kuranchie, has said that his client is innocent of all charges.
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi was picked up from his residence by officers of the National Investigation Bureau.
The reason for picking him, according to reports, was his role in the issuing of an amount of $2 million to a company that had to work on the sky trains promised by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.
This is said to have happened when Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi was the board chairman of Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF).
Speaking after his client was granted bail on Sunday, he said, “Investigations have just started, so let us wait and see what turns out next. My client is innocent. He is innocent of absolutely all charges. But we shall see; let the government build its case”.
