“We compromise for the sake of the story”: ‘The Beginning after the End’ Anime Will Never Be as Good as the Manhwa but That Didn’t Demotivate Turtleme

Creating an anime out of manga, manhwa, or a webnovel is an incredibly difficult task. The process isn’t the smoothest and there are quite a few hitches on the way. The Beginning After the End‘s author, TurtleMe, has opened up about his experience of turning his popular webtoon into an anime series.

After talking about his inspirations, struggles, and unique POV for the series, the author settled down to talk about the upcoming anime. The Beginning After the End anime is all set to premiere sometime in 2025 and is being animated by studio A-CAT.

The author of The Beginning After the End is as motivated as ever despite the compromises in the anime

In an interview with Anime News Network, TurtleMe admitted that since he had never worked on anime before, he had an inherent concern about not knowing what he was doing. But he did realize that the transition from a webtoon to anime is difficult.

He also admitted that as more people got involved in the project and more opinions got juggled around, he had to remember that it was he who was the expert on The Beginning After the End. Even though he might not be an anime expert, he brings forth his knowledge as a creator to the table.

This is how I can help. I just make sure that they understand that and we compromise for the sake of the story, or for the sake of it being a smooth transition for readers from the web novel and the webcomic to the anime.

The Beginning After the End might not be the best anime of them all, and there are high chances that the series would not be as awesome as its rivals. With anime like Mushoku Tensei already taking over the reborn isekai protagonist genre, TBATE will have to face stiff competition in an oversaturated market. Yet, TurtleMe has not lost faith and is still trying its best to deliver as much as possible despite the imminent compromises.

TurtleMe would be happy if even a fraction of anime watchers read TBATE

Every time a manga gets converted into an anime, the popularity of the source material increases. This is because at least a few watchers become interested in reading the manga and increasing their personal stash. The same phenomenon has happened for every major series and TBATE might not be any different.

TurtleMe also acknowledged that after the release of The Beginning After the End webtoon, the popularity of the original web novel had increased. The webcomic is visual but one still has to read it. But as the anime is geared to release, the series will give fans more of an auditory and visual experience, something that attracts people more than just reading.

Thus, the author wholeheartedly hopes that after watching the anime, at least some fans would be inclined to give the web novel or webcomic a try. Even if it’s just a fraction of people, TurtleMe would be happy with it. But at the end of the day, it would all depend on how TBATE performs as an anime.

The Beginning Before the End manhwa is available to read on Tapas.
