NPP condemns NIB for summoning Abronye over questions on GHC 550 million allocation

NPP National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has strongly condemned the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) for summoning the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye), over his inquiry into the GH₵550 million allocated for newly recruited personnel under the Mahama administration.

In a statement sighted Nana B questioned the NIB’s selective approach, pointing out that no action was taken when false allegations and attacks were made by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against former President Akufo-Addo.

He noted that the NIB failed to act when NDC figures accused the former president of corruption, yet now, Abronye is being targeted for legitimately questioning government allocations.

“If no one was summoned or arrested for making false accusations against Akufo-Addo, why is Chairman Abronye being invited just for raising valid concerns?” Nana B said.

The NPP National Organizer also expressed his frustration with the timing of the move, alleging that President Mahama and his allies are using the NIB to target former NPP appointees.

Nana B warned that the NPP will not back down, stating, “We will stand by Chairman Abronye, and the Elephant Soldiers, led by our General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, will accompany him to the NIB.”

He further referenced numerous false corruption accusations against Akufo-Addo, which, he claimed, were ignored by the NIB.

Nana B listed several accusations by high-profile NDC figures, including calls from Asiedu Nketia, Sammy Gyamfi, and others, who labelled the Akufo-Addo administration as deeply corrupt.

The NPP has vowed to stand firm in its opposition to what it sees as politically motivated actions by the NIB under the current administration.
