Kaido Was Right about Haki in One Piece except When You Are Fighting against These 3 Broken Devil Fruit Users

The various power systems in One Piece are vast and complicated. Characters can be superior in one aspect while incredibly weak in another. Kaido, on the other hand, views it differently. To him, Haki is the one power system that transcends all others. Not even Devil Fruits can surpass a powerful Haki.

In typical One Piece style, there are exceptions to this. Haki might be powerful and incredibly useful in a fight but Devil Fruits are unique. Some of them work in ways that we can’t logically understand and only their adept users can.

A few of them are incredibly overpowered and have the potential to surpass Haki itself. While it does depend on who they fight, it shows that Haki might not transcend everything. Complex Devil Fruits like Law’s or Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi are these exceptions.

1. Trafalgar D. Water Law’s Ope Ope no Mi can control everything

In the Dressrosa Arc, we learn a lot more about Law. He initially didn’t give the impression that he’d be this actively involved in One Piece’s storyline but he surprised us with his backstory. We find out he has the Will of D. and ate the Ope Ope no Mi at a very young age. It reflects in his expert use of it.

The Ope Ope no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows Law to make ROOMs, a spherical domain in which he can control and manipulate anything. We see him play Tetris with massive ships, confuse his enemies by separating their limbs, and even swap souls too.

What’s fascinating about his Devil Fruit is that it got past Blackbeard’s and Big Mom’s defense. Both of them are Emperors with incredible Haki and this feat shouldn’t be possible. Only Ope Ope no Mi could achieve this level of precision and in the hands of Law, it was with practised ease.

2. Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi can shatter anything, even the very air we breathe

Edward Newgate’s legendary use of his Gura Gura no Mi was terrifying and that’s putting it lightly. His Devil Fruit is another Paracemia-type that allows him to create tremors. Whitebeard goes as far as to crack the air. Nobody was safe from it in Marineford, even those with Haki as their defense.

Whitebeard doesn’t play when it comes to threatening his children and it shows during Portgas D. Ace’s funeral. He fought tooth and nail for him, and no Haki could surpass his powers.

He wasn’t the Strongest Man in the World for no reason. It only took him a terminal disease, losing a part of his head, 465 injuries, including 267 sword wounds, 152 gunshot wounds, and 46 cannonball wounds to kill him. However, now the Gura Gura no Mi belongs to Blackbeard.

3. Yami Yami no Mi nullifies all abilities

It’s no wonder Blackbeard searched for the Yami Yami no Mi for ages. The Logia-type Devil Fruit is a walking cheat code against powerful characters.

Blackbeard has demonstrated how unique the Yami Yami no Mi is. It allows him to control darkness, nullifying his opponent’s powers and Haki. He can also create black holes with it. Even Ace, Law, and Marco, who are powerful characters in their own right, were no match against it.

Considering how these Devil Fruits have been used, it’s safe to say that Haki isn’t the most powerful system ever. Some loopholes can offer an edge over Haki. However, the stronger the Haki, the more difficult it is to defeat them, even with these Devil Fruits.
