Diving headfirst into a whirlwind of heartbreak, unapologetic chaos, and teen drama like never before, Euphoria truly is one of a kind. As viewers navigate through the messy lives of the characters, they can’t help but fall in love with the characters, one episode at a time. While we wait for season three to drop, we reminisce about the vibe that was ‘Euphoria Sundays.’
Talking about Euphoria and leaving out the fifth episode of season two seems like the wrong thing to do. When Zendaya’s Rue exposed Cassie’s horrible secret, entire social media was filled with discussions about the explosive episode. Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
Rue Destroys Cassie in Euphoria
Season 2 Episode 5 titled Stand Still Like the Hummingbird gave Euphoria its top 5 moments, easily. When Rue (Zendaya) finds herself in the middle of an intervention, her mother wants to drive her to the hospital and get her the help she needs.
However, Rue dismissed the idea stating, “I can’t get clean. I can’t do that sh*t forever.” That’s when Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) speaks up and we witness something people like to call, ‘Moments Before Disaster.’
Cassie tries to persuade Rue into taking things one day at a time and that’s when the latter decides to choose violence. Rue doesn’t miss a beat before exposing Cassie’s secret affair with Nate (Jacob Elordi), Maddy’s (Alexa Demie) on and off boyfriend.
What follows is chaos that’s never been seen before. Cassie breaks down as Maddy unleashes her wrath on her supposed best friend. The episode also gave birth to one of TikTok’s favorite sounds thanks to Maddy’s iconic dialogue, “You dumb f*cking b*tch, I’m gonna f*ck you!”
As everyone gets occupied with the drama unfolding in front of their eyes, Rue uses the opportunity to escape from the house. It looks like she just wanted the attention off of her and Cassie seemed like the perfect person to help her out. Homegirl should have never opened her mouth…
Fans Cannot Get Over the Episode
Debatably the peak of Euphoria, S02E05 remains a fan favorite all these years. Even though Euphoria is filled to the brim with jaw-dropping and mind-boggling moments that make you ask, “What high school is this?!” it was Rue exposing Cassie that takes the cake for us.
Not only us, but fans who swear by the drama of the show have yet to see a moment more catastrophic. Take a look at what some fans have to say about Stand Still Like the Hummingbird:

Talking to Entertainment Weekly about the episode, Zendaya revealed that it was a “very tough day” at work. In her own words, “It was a very tough day. I mean, I beat myself up. I still have some scars on my legs, and got quite a few bruises.”
It goes without saying that the episode marks one of the most important moments of the show which changes Maddy and Cassie’s equation for good. Only season three will tell if things got better between the ex-best friends or not.
Production for the third season will begin in January 2025.
Euphoria is available to watch on Max.
